What we hold, which is almost nothing

This website

This site sets no cookies. It runs no analytics, no tag manager, no advertising pixel and no third party script of any kind. The fonts, images and icons are served from the same place as the pages, so loading a page here does not make a request to anybody else.

Our hosting provider keeps ordinary web server logs, which include the requesting address, the page requested and the time. We do not read them except when the site is broken, and we do not combine them with anything else.

The application

Cut Solver does not connect to the internet. It does not send us your cutting lists, your part sizes, your material names, how often you use it or whether you use it at all. There is no telemetry setting to turn off, because there is nothing to turn off.

Your jobs are files on your own machine, in a format you can open and read. Your licence key is a signed file checked on your own machine, which is why the application works on a computer that has never been on a network.

When you email us

We hold your email, your name if you sign it, and whatever you wrote, in our email account. That is how email works. We keep correspondence so that when you write again in three years about the same licence we know who you are.

If you send us a cutting list to look at, we use it to answer your question and then it stays in that email thread. We do not use customer cutting lists as test data or examples without asking first, and the six jobs in the examples are published with permission and without any customer name.

When you buy a licence

We hold your name or business name, your email, the licence type, the date, the invoice, and which machine slots are in use. We keep this for as long as your licence exists, plus whatever period our tax obligations require, because a licence you bought in 2016 is one we still expect to support.

Payment is handled by our payment provider and the card details never reach us. We see that an invoice was paid, not how.

What we never do

• We do not sell, rent or share your details with anybody.
• We do not send marketing email. If you get an email from us it is because you wrote to us first, or because there is something wrong with a version you are running.
• We do not build a profile of you, and we could not if we wanted to.

Asking us what we hold

Email hello@cutsolver.com and ask. We will tell you everything we have, which will take one email, and delete it if you want it deleted. The one exception is invoices, which we are obliged to keep.

Changes to this policy

If it changes, the date at the top changes and the change is described here rather than announced as an update to terms you never read. It has changed twice since 2013, both times to remove something.
