The terms, in the plainest language we can manage

What you are buying

A licence to use Cut Solver, not the software itself. The licence lets you install and use it on a set number of machines you own or control: two on the single workshop licence, three on pro, and up to eight on team. It is not limited by how many people use those machines.

The single workshop and pro licences are bought once and do not expire. The team licence runs month to month for as long as you pay for it.

What you may do

• Use it for commercial work with no additional fee, forever. There is no royalty and no per job charge.
• Install it on a replacement machine when one dies, by moving your slot.
• Keep and use old versions for as long as you like.
• Print, publish, sell or hand to a customer anything the application produces. The cutting diagrams are yours.

What you may not do

• Share your licence key outside your own business, or publish it.
• Install it on more machines than your licence covers, other than briefly while replacing one.
• Take it apart, rebuild it or remove the licence checking.
• Resell it or bundle it into something else without asking us. Ask, and there is a good chance the answer is yes.

Refunds

Thirty days from purchase, in full, without a reason. Email us. On the team licence, cancel any time and it ends at the end of the month already paid for.

If a genuine fault stops the application doing what this website says it does, and we cannot fix it in a reasonable time, you get your money back regardless of how long ago you bought it. That has happened twice and both times it was the right outcome.

Updates

Point releases within a version are free. Whole number upgrades are paid, at about half the licence price. We are not obliged to release anything, but the changelog is the record of what we have actually done since 2013.

We will not remove a feature you have paid for in a point release. If a feature has to go, it goes in a whole number version and you are not obliged to take it.

The important limitation

Cut Solver produces a proposed layout. It is a calculation, and you are the person standing at the saw.

Check every diagram against your own cutting list and your own material before cutting. We are not liable for material that is cut wrongly, for a part that turns out to be the wrong size, for a sheet that was not the size printed on it, or for anything else that happens between the printer and the finished job. The guide on reading a cutting diagram sets out the four checks we think you should make every time, and we would rather you made them than trusted us.

Our liability in any circumstance is limited to what you paid for the licence.

If we stop

We are two people, and two people can be run over by the same bus. If Cut Solver stops being developed, the copy on your machine keeps working, because the licence key is checked on your own machine and there is no server to switch off. Your saved jobs stay readable. That is deliberate, and it is the main reason it is built the way it is.

Changes to these terms

If they change, the date at the top changes. A change will not remove a right you already have under the licence you already bought.
